Archery has been a staple of sleepaway camps since their inception.  Perhaps it’s the nostalgia of this notion that makes it perennial favorite among Camp Starlight campers.  As an activity that’s not offered as widely in school programs, its popularity endures.   There is also a very peaceful quality that consistently makes it a hit with Camp Starlight campers.   One not need be a premiere level athlete in order to be good at archery.  Rather, it’s an activity that requires focus and precision.  Campers tend to enjoy the more cerebral emphasis of archery amidst their more physical activities.  Campers also find it just plain fun!  A little bit of competition among friends to see who can make it the closest to the center of that target always makes for a fun archery period.
