Being a camp nurse provides a rewarding and fulfilling experience for those who enjoy working with children in a non- traditional setting. Our team of 6 camp nurses carries out the camp health & safety program for all 500 of our campers and staff. Nurses manage health center, dispense meds, help with first aid for minor injuries, supervise daily clinic call, review and monitor camper and staff health histories, provide first response emergency care, observe status of camp health & safety, and give a lot of TLC.

General Information • We hire RNs, LPNs, and new nursing graduates from all over the United States • 2008 camp dates are June 22- August 17th • Work with our team of 5 to 6 other nurses • Doctor in residence at all times • Starlight is approximately 25 miles from a Wayne Memorial hospital • Defibulator on site
Requirements • RN or LPN degree (or nursing student-to assist in Health Center) • Must be available for at least 4 weeks, 8 week availability preferred • Flexible-- able to adapt to different environments and schedules • Organized, responsible and hard working • Strong assessment abilities • Team player
Compensation • Competitive salaries including room and board • Travel costs to and from camp • Starlight will reimburse state licensure and insurance.

Typical Day/Schedule Our Health Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have 2 clinic calls during the day where campers can come and see the doctor- After lunch and after dinner. All other times campers must be accomplice by a staff member to visit the health Center. You will have one day off per week and your work schedule will be based on daily needs. As a rule you will work approximately 8- to 10-hour shifts daily (which may be broken up during the day) and you will be on call every 4 or 5 nights.
